The Ford Transit van is a workhorse unlike none other, but many Ford Transit vans lead a fairly mundane life of transporting either delivery boxes or a mechanic’s tools. Whilst this is fine and generally is what the Ford Transit van has been designed to do on a daily basis, there is a world of transportation opportunities out there. Discover five wacky and random things that you can transport in the back in a Ford Transit van. Based on the fact that Ford have sold millions of these vans over the year you can be rest assured that if people haven’t already transported these random things in the back of a van, they have surely considered it.

Piano- to be honest we’re pretty sure that many a piano has been transported in a Transit van in the past, the question is what sort of piano, an upright or a grand? If we take it as a given that an upright piano will fit in the back let’s check out a grand piano. The first thing that we discover that there are different types of grand pianos, from concert grand pianos to baby grand pianos. Based on this, we think you can definitely transport a baby grand in the back of a Transit Van and pack it so it doesn’t get destroyed. As for a Concert Grand, we’re not so much convinced that it will fit or arrive in one piece.

Baby Elephant- we’re certainly not suggesting that transporting Baby Elephants in the back of a transit van is a great idea but we are certainly convinced that we could, if required, at a push fit a baby elephant in if we had to. One tip is that if you are considering transporting a baby elephant, then get in quick. In one study of a baby elephant called Panang, this elephant gained 1kg daily meaning that it wouldn’t be too long before it was either too big or more importantly too heavy to transport!

An Isetta Bubble Car- the Isetta Bubble Car is only 2.29m long by 1.37m wide which means this will easily fit into the back of a Transit van if you can lift it in there. One supposes a bunch of burly gentlemen or a fork lift truck could potentially handle that side of things, so if you are looking to transport a Bubble Car in an alternate way, other than driving it from A to B then a Ford Transit is an option.

Loads of people- apparently in the 2010 Bug Jam at Pasco they managed to ram 34 people into a VW bus. We reckon that a VW bus is much smaller than a Ford Transit so if you wanted we think you could easily put more than 34 people in the back of it. We were looking for a world record for putting people in the back of a van, but we couldn’t find one. This sounds like one World Record that is begging to be set, if it hasn’t already been.

Jelly Beans- when searching the internet you’ll find lots of explanations of how many jelly beans that you can fit in a car, but nobody seems to have tried to calculate how many jelly beans will fit in a van. We suppose a jelly bean manufacturer might have an idea of how many boxes of jelly beans they can get in the back of the van, but as far as our mathematics go the calculation seems somewhat hard to calculate. We will go with the figure of, quite a lot.
